[img_assist|nid=16|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=104|height=130]With a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Denver, why does Bret have years of experience as a web developer? It's simple, really: Whether you're writing about rabid Labradors on rocket-powered snowboards terrorizing Winter Park, or need to architect a solution to integrate a client website with their internal systems, it's all a matter of creativity. In both cases, one starts with a blank "page" and goes from there.
Bret found enjoyment matching creative solutions with web development when he became a college work-study secretary in the Department of Engineering, where he took on learning how to build their web site back in '94. With that, the enjoyment of learning technology coupled with being creative, Bret's worked with a myriad of web sites, database schemata, programming and scripting languages, a few WAP and SMS mobile projects, and even a Homer Simpson sound-board for cell phones (just for fun).
Bret believes that simplicity in the architecture, design and development is cornerstone to everything. Over-engineering is the devil, as technology should not be feared or misunderstood. And the simple approach is usually the one to follow. Perfection is unattainable, but the search is always there to find, research and implement the best solution for all.
Transplanted fifteen years from the San Francisco bay area to Colorado, Bret currently lives in Loveland, with a rabid (not really), black Labrador named Maddy. He may or may not be designing rocket-powered snowboards for dogs. Patent pending.
