Loveland is known for its public art. We think our landscaping qualifies as part of it. The landscaping at copper 10 was designed to create a harmonious connection to its modern architecture. The architecturally geometric lines are extended into the landscape through the use of a variety of ornamental grasses, concrete pads and crushed stone.
The landscape design of copper 10 creates a landscape that is low-maintenance and xeric, colorful year- round effect.
The selections of plant material include a short-grass prairie seeding, the use of Blue Fescue, Little Bluestem, Switchgrass and Mexican Feather Grass.
Each of these plants is either indigenous to the region or has characteristics of an indigenous plant. The use of large masses of these materials and tight spacing allow for a reduction in water consumption and maintenance issues. The streetscapes are characterized with a short-grass prairie grass mix which will use little water and will provide year round interest. It is also an architectural gesture honoring the site’s prairie heritage.
The shade trees used throughout the landscape design of copper 10 were chosen for their durability, architectural character, and sculptural form.
The landscape involves four varieties of trees: Honey locust, Kentucky Coffee tree, Bur Oak and Ohio Buckeye. The use of these trees juxtapose the clean architectural lines of the design - further highlighting the trees as sculptural elements and creating a long-lasting foundation for the future of the community.
